Where is the progress on milk?s definition?

Dairy producers have been fighting a battle for a few years now, and that is over the definition of milk. You can go to the store and see milk, almond milk, coconut milk, soymilk, and so on. The issue dairy producers have is with those plant-based drinks calling themselves ?milk.? Dairy producers have advocated for the label of milk to only be on dairy products. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) promised to address this concern, but that was a year ago.

Nowhere in the dictionary does a nut factor into the definition of milk. I don?t say this as a statement of advocacy, but rather as a statement on what I read in the dictionary when I wrote this story.

The Dairy Experience is going on in St. Paul, Minnesota, this week. National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF0 spokesperson Chris Galen says progress is slowing with the FDA.

Galen says this issue is still very important to dairy producers. However, Galen says the FDA is dragging its feet.

The NMPF is supporting the DAIRY PRIDE Act, which is essentially a legislative push to get the FDA moving.
