Corn and soybeans are major crops in the Midwest, but wheat is the major grain in the Plains.

Wheat is the only crop many farmers can grow, due to limited rainfall. United States wheat is attractive in the world market, due to the quality bred in for milling and baking of bread, pasta and other products.

Wheat also adds to the total supply of grain, and has an impact on prices of all cereal grains and coarse grains.

Jimmie Musick, past president of the National Association of Wheat Growers, recently spoke with Ron Hays, of the Radio Oklahoma Network, about the crop and hopes for profitability in the year ahead.
