Yesterday we talked about the aspects being considered by an African Swine Fever (ASF) task force in Iowa. Today we are going to focus on how it will be implemented and what they are learning from those who have taken on this disease.

If ASF were to show up in Iowa, Jamee Eggers of the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) discusses the plan of action that will be put in motion.

With a disease this awful, containment is the next big concern. How do we keep it from spreading? Eggers talks about that part of the contingency plan.

In 2020, it is a matter of learning from those who have fought ASF and learning how they have dealt with it. This helps refine the efforts of the task force.

Eggers tells us that the task force is working hard to be ready to be prepared to implement a comprehensive and effective plan in response to an outbreak of ASF. A plan that they hope never to have to use.
