I?m on the Upper Mississippi River, near Guttenberg.

The water continues to rise and flood lower lying homes in the area. The big river is not to be stopped and only a slowing of melt in its upper reaches will prevent a major flood.

The early spring flooding, along United States rivers within the transportation network, will delay the unofficial start to the 2019 transport season, but should have minimal effects to the movement of products.

Current conditions and forecasts will limit transportation movements through mid-April, according to Lynn Muench, senior vice president of regional advocacy for the American Waterways Operators (AWO).
