The African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak has been moving through Asia and the European Union. So far, we have kept it off our shores. This doesn?t mean we can let our guard down for even a minute.

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary Greg Ibach says the concern with prevention is how much we are tied together with Canada and Mexico.

Ibach says the USDA is working closely with U.S. producers to come up with protection plans. These are being shared with Canada and Mexico.

Ibach says even though he is confident we are doing a fantastic job of keeping diseases off our shores, it is prudent to plan and prepare for the worst-case situation.

Ibach assures producers the USDA has multi-layered plans in place to keep ASF off our shore.
