Last month the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) hosted a trip to China and Japan that was attended by members of the cattle industry. Industry leaders from several states and the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) had the chance to gain a better understanding of the consumers across the Pacific.
Cattlemen’s Beef Board Chair Joan Ruskamp, a cattle producer from Dodge, Nebraska, says that it was interesting to see the USMEF working to build a relationship in China, and to see the established partnership in Japan.
Ruskamp says she has an increased respect for what USMEF has done and is doing to encourage trade.
CBB CEO Scott Stuart says he was impressed with the people of both China and Japan, and their excitement for U.S. beef products.
