A national government agency proposes to amend egg product inspection regulations.

United States Department of Agriculture?s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) proposes to amend egg products inspection regulations. The proposed rule would require official plants to develop Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) systems and Standard Operating Procedures (Sanitation SOPs).

The proposed rule aims to modernize food safety inspection systems at egg products plants. HACCP systems would allow plants to tailor food safety systems to fit their facility and equipment. Egg products plants would also have flexibility in achieving enhanced food safety.
