The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will begin to issue over $1 billion in payments over the next several weeks starting June 15. The funds are for producers with approved Quality Loss Adjustment (QLA) Program applications and producers who have already received payments through the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+).
Agriculture producers suffered significant natural disasters through 2018 and 2019, and the programs aid those producers who suffered losses. The maximum amount that a person or legal entity may receive under the QLA program- directly or indirectly- is $125,000 for each crop year. Payments made to joint operations will not exceed $125,000 multiplied by the number of people or legal entities who comprise the ownership of the joint operation. Producers who applied for and received their first WHIP+ payment should expect to receive their second payment starting in mid-June for eligible crop losses.
