US Soybean Export Council looking optimistic for the future

Optimism. It is a feeling we don’t always get in agriculture nowadays. Trade climates aren’t the greatest, commodity prices are low, and input costs keep rising. However, the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) is choosing to remain optimistic.

USSEC CEO Jim Sutter says they feel there are plenty of reasons to feel optimistic.

Sutter says producers need to realize even though prices are down, they are still in a growth market, and it wasn’t too long ago when they weren’t.

Sutter says the market doesn’t completely revolve around China. While the loss of Chinese imports certainly is a hit to the market, we are seeing substantial growth in other markets.
