Many times, the best way to do business is face to face. The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) did just that in late August by conducting its first-ever product showcase in the region.

USMEF says Southeast Asia is a very promising market to grow. This is why they decided to hold this Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) showcase of American meat products in Singapore. USMEF?s Trade Analyst Jessica Spreitzer talks about the event.

Last year, we saw beef exports to ASEAN member countries reach $275 million, and pork was nearly $170 million. Spreitzer says this is just scratching the surface of the region?s potential.

Because the region is so spread out amongst small nations, USMEF felt getting everybody together in one place would be the most beneficial way of bringing producers and buyers together for face-to-face meetings. It?s common knowledge around the world that face-to-face talks bring about the best business agreements.
