U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to visit Iowa during RV tour

United States Secretary of Agriculture announced plans to embark on a five-state RV tour Tuesday. The trip features stops in Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin.

The tour, dubbed ?Back to Our Roots,? is an attempt to gather input from farmers, ranchers, foresters, producers, students, governors, members of Congress, USDA employees and other stakeholders on the 2018 Farm Bill and increasing rural prosperity. This is the first of two RV tours the secretary will undertake this summer.

The following is a list of stops Perdue will make while in Iowa:

Saturday, August 5th:

8:00 a.m. CDT ? Tour of Sukup Manufacturing

Secretary Perdue will tour Sukup Manufacturing, a family-owned manufacturer of grain bins and dryers and other equipment.

11:00 a.m. CDT ? Keynote Address at Iowa Ag Summit

Secretary Perdue will deliver the keynote speech at the 2017 Iowa Ag Summit.

12:00 p.m. CDT ? Beginning Farmer Roundtable with Gov. Kim Reynolds

Secretary Perdue will discuss the 2018 Farm Bill with Gov. Reynolds and a gathering of local beginning farmers.

1:30 p.m. CDT ? Iowa Living History Farm Grain Harvest Festival

Secretary Perdue will tour the festival, watch part of a historic baseball game and visit the 1900 farm.
