Tuning in to the Right Voice

“Speak, for your servant is listening.” -1 Samuel 3:10

Like I said yesterday, this past weekend I was at the Iowa High School Wrestling Tournament.

My job was to listen to the broadcast and keep the standings updated at all times.

Most of the time I worked up in Des Moines, the other times I worked at home. No matter where I was, I had earphones in my ear and the broadcast going constantly.

I carried my laptop and phone every where I went. I didn’t mean a beat to what our broadcasters were saying. I knew how important it was to hang on their every word.

After about day two of being glued to the audio in my ear, I realized what a powerful image this is as Christ follower.

Who’s voice do we carry with us all day?

What if we constantly carried the Lord’s voice with us. What if we were glued to anything that He wanted to speak into our lives?

What if we didn’t want to miss a beat of what He said because we knew how vital it was to hang on to His every word?

So often we are in tune with our spouse, friend, TV, phone, radio, and kids that we don’t think much of tuning into what God wants to say to us.

Who’s voice are you carrying all day? If it’s not the Lord’s, you might just miss something big that He wants to speak to you!

Prayer: “God, in a day that can be filled with a million different voices, help me to be in tune with yours above all others. In your name I pray, Amen.”
