Finally news almost everyone in the Ag sector has been wanting to hear. Who would become the next Agriculture Secretary? Around 8 o’clock central time last night, multiple news outlets including sources close to Sonny Perdue confirmed Trump would pick him to head the USDA.

Sonny Purdue is a conservative southern republican. As governor of Georgia, he was pro-agriculture and pro-business. He questioned the U.S. immigration policy.

Purdue is a veterinarian by training and has owned and operated agricultural businesses: fertilizer, grain and trucking for most of his adult life.
He is well respected by his employees and Georgians who saw him lead the state as the first republican governor since the reconstruction period after the Civil War.
