The Iowa Pork Producers Association held its annual meetings at the Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines last week and Buchanan County pig farmer Trish Cook was officially named the new president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association.

Cook is the first woman to lead the Iowa Pork Producers. Cook served as the president-elect in 2022 and replaces Kevin Rasmussen of Goldfield Iowa as president.
Cook says that her goals for 2023 begin with biosecurity.

She says that pork producers need to connect with their community and it starts by helping others.

Cook says that IPPA works closely with the National Pork Board on several issues including nutrition.

She says that education and promotion are always two areas that the IPPA can utilize to help encourage consumers to buy pork.
