The Iowa Primary Elections were held on Tuesday. There were many races for State and Federal offices, including Secretary of State.

Iowa is one of a handful of states that votes for their Secretary of Agriculture, versus having one appointed by the governor.

Five Republicans were vying for the nomination on Tuesday. To win, someone had to secure 35 percent of the vote.

It was close, but in the end none of the five secured the percentage needed to be nominated. Current Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig, led the way with 34.74% of the vote. State Senator Dan Zumbach was second with 21.38%. In third was Craig Lang with 18.56%. Following in fourth was Ray Gaesser with 16.21%. Rounding out the 5 was Chad Ingels with 8.89%.

With nobody getting 35% of the vote, the nomination process will be settled at the Republican State Convention. The winner will face Democrat Tim Gannon in the November General elections.
