The Communication I Don’t Have My Degree In

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

audio-2202_960_720Conversation is everything to me. I love to talk and form relationships with people. Just ask my husband, I get the most frustrated with him when he doesn’t engage in conversation with me.

Talking comes very natural to me. I have a bachelor’s degree in communications, and I work for a radio station. My life revolves around conversation.

How cool is it that we have the ability to communicate with people in the way that we can?
And the many different ways we can do so?

God is not any different. We can communicate with Him anytime and anywhere, but how often do we?

I know when my husband doesn’t talk to me my heart breaks. I thrive off of sharing words, and life with him. When we are in constant communication, our marriage is at it’s peak. Our relationship with Christ isn’t any different. He loves hearing from his children. He loves when they tell Him about their day, their hardships, their excitement, and their fears. He loves hearing from us.

He loves hearing from us so much, that the Bible literally says to pray without ceasing. Are you kidding me? That means praying without stopping. No quitting, but instead endless speaking to God. He doesn’t want us ever to hang up the phone on communication with Him.

I might be pretty good at communicating, but I am horrible at speaking to God without stopping. I really can’t even fathom what that looks like, but it is what the Bible specifically says to do.

Friend, join me today in conversing a little less with everyone else, and converse a whole lot more with the Lord. Stop hanging up the phone on Him. He wants to hear from you. Tell Him about what’s going on.

Prayer: “Lord, I want to be in constant conversation with you. I know that I converse in a lot of ways with a lot of different people, but I want you to be the one I am contact with the most. Help me to do that. In your name I pray, Amen!”
