Senator Grassley held his weekly ag press conference on Wednesday morning. One of the topics covered was the farm bill, which expires on September 30th.
Grassley says the goal is to have the 2018 Farm Bill wrapped up on time. However, there are some discussions which could hamper progress. Grassley says if the bill isn?t done, the sky will not fall.
Grassley has been pressing for subsidy payment reforms. Even though he will not be on the conference committee, he does have allies for his cause.
Grassley thinks a lot of minor differences will be ironed out at the staff level, and the larger debates will be had in September.
