Thanksgiving is this Thursday. If you are just coming to the realization of this fact, you are running out of time before the relatives knock on your door.

Iowa Turkey Federation Executive Director Gretta Irwin tells us if you have not started thawing your Thanksgiving bird, you better start now. However, you can cook a frozen bird. Just be prepared to need a lot more oven time.

You want to make sure your turkey reaches 165 ? 170 degrees.

Irwin also reminds consumers of all the safeguards which are in place before a turkey ever reaches the food chain.

Remember to give thanks for those who produced your meal this year, it hasn?t been an easy year for farmers. Your turkey was a little cheaper because producers are getting less for their product.
