Iowa Turkey Federation Executive Director Gretta Irwin tells us if you have not started thawing your Thanksgiving bird, you better start now. However, you can cook a frozen bird. Just be prepared to need a lot more oven time.
You want to make sure your turkey reaches 165 – 170 degrees.
Irwin also reminds consumers of all the safeguards which are in place before a turkey ever reaches the food chain.
Remember to give thanks for those who produced your meal this year, it hasn’t been an easy year for farmers. Your turkey was a little cheaper because producers are getting less for their product.
