A large agribusiness plans to enhance its corn rootworm technology.

Syngenta announced plans to unveil a new formulation of Force Evo at the 2017 Farm Progress Show. Kevin Scholl, an agronomic service representative for Syngenta, said the new formulation will be convenient for farmers.

?It?s going to greatly enhance some of the benefits the farmer can get from a convenience standpoint,? Scholl said. ?It has the same active ingredient as the old formulation, so we expect to see the same performance in a corn rootworm pressure situation with some nice convenience enhancements.?

More specifically, Scholl said the product will provide better flowability.

?The bags will empty easier, pumps will last longer and we?ll have better flow throughout the system,? Scholl said. ?Another thing is the residue left behind. With the new formulation, we don?t have much residue left behind. Clean-up could be greatly enhanced in that situation.?

The new formulation also offers compatibility and a better freeze cycle, according to Scholl.

?The fertilizer compatibility is excellent with this product,? Scholl said. ?In the old formulation, we had issues with some fertilizers. We have not found any fertilizer today that has compatibility issues with Force Evo. We (also) have a much lower freeze point with this product. If it does freeze, it comes back into solution nicely. We don?t expect to see crystallization causing problems with filters.?

Scholl added the new Force Evo formulation was built for large, high-speed planter systems.

?You could get these add-ons from Raven Precision, and John Deere also sells one on new planters which is a closed handling system for Force Evo,? Scholl said.
