?The curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom?? -Matthew 27:51

Have you ever felt like there is an impossible amount of separation between where you are, and where you know you need to be with God?

In the temple there were two sections. The first section was called the Holy Place, where only the priests could be.

The other, was called the Holy of Holies, which was the innermost part of the temple.

The Holy Place and the Holy of Holies were separated by a large curtain because God’s presence would dwell within the Holy of Holies. The curtain was a reminder that sin separated humanity from God.

Only the High Priest would be allowed to enter the Holy of Holies once a year on the Day of Atonement.

Before the High Priest could enter into the Holy of Holies he would have to put special clothes on, wash clean, and bring sacrificial blood of animals to atone for the sins of the people.

Then Jesus steps into the scene. When He poured out His perfect blood on the cross it changed everything.

Instead of the blood of an animal, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God was crucified in an act of love that purchased our salvation. Sin was finished.

The separation between God and man was immediately finished. The curtain separating us from God was torn.

No more high priests, no more special clothes, no more having to be completely clean before entering, and no more having to bring sacrificial blood.

Step through impossible. The curtain has been torn, there is no veil separating you from God.

Through Jesus, you can step into the presence of God because you are covered by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Step through the curtain. Step into a relationship with Him. Step through impossible.

Prayer: “Jesus, thank you for tearing the veil of separation between you and I. Help me to step into a deeper relationship with you.”
