While the farming industry presents us with many challenges, getting started in farming can be an even bigger headache. The Start Smart Program is doing all it can to help get young farmers started on the right path.

The Start Smart program is sponsored by the Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers, the Iowa State Fair, AccuSteel, and the Market to Market program. Jason Owen talks about the panel program at the Iowa State Fair.

Livestock seems to be one of the easier ways for beginning farmers to get a foothold into the industry. Owen explains the benefits of starting this way.

There will be many panelists from multiple facets of the agriculture industry to help beginning farmers look at all the needs they will have to get started. The panel will be held on Thursday, August 15th at 8:30 at the Penningroth Media Center on the State Fairgrounds. You can still register by clicking right here.
