Tis the season to reflect on everything we set out to do almost 365 days ago. We all have an agenda of some sort, and as New Year?s approaches, we look to see how much of our goals were accomplished and how much wasn?t. We also reflect on what was accomplished even though it wasn?t anticipated. The Senate Ag Committee is not immune to this kind of reflection, and Chairwoman Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) looks back on 2021.

The COVID pandemic was still the hottest issue to be faced on Capitol Hill this year. Senator Stabenow says that a lot of the work they were doing, this year, on the committee was in response to the situation.

Stabenow reflected on what she considers her two biggest accomplishments this year: the Growing Climate Solutions Act and improving rural broadband access.

Senator Stabenow is looking to ahead 2022 and compiling her wish list of accomplishments she wants to see tackled in the Senate Agriculture Committee. One of those is the Farm Workforce Modernization Bill. She feels she can get enough bipartisan support to get this bill to the desk of a President who wants to sign such legislation.

She also wants to focus on consolidation in the industry and see more competition in the marketplace.
