Spring planting: One chance to do it right

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Crop Progress Report, to be released later today, is expected to show a sizable number of acres planted to corn and soybeans over the past week.  

Are farmers going in too soon? That’s what I asked an agronomist, based out of southeast Iowa. He also talks about ammonia burn and other issues that can be prevented by slowing down and waiting to get conditions right before dropping seed.
