The United Soybean Board (USB) recently implemented a new strategic plan with the vision to deliver sustainable soy solutions to every life, every day. USB Communication and Education Committee Chair Belinda Burrier said their plan builds on the successes of the soy checkoff?s most recent research and promotion investments, aiming to build profitability for soybean farmers.

?We’ve actually implemented this new strategic plan, and it’s been five years since the last one,? Burrier said. ?So, we build on the investments and the research that we’ve already done the last year and are setting a strong course for the future.?

Burrier said there are three main priorities the plan covers, including Infrastructure & Connectivity, Health & Nutrition and Innovation & Technology. All are focused on bringing value back to U.S. soybean farmers and creating a more reliable system.

?As far as infrastructure goes, we?re strengthening the roads, the rail, the river system,? Burrier said. ?We’re continuing work on the Mississippi River dredging, and we’re also hoping to get broadband increased for the farmers across the U.S. We’re also working on health and nutrition and to build the soil health, plant nutrition and to also enhance human and feed consumption across the U.S. for building a more nutritious soybean.?

Other investments focus on discovering new ways to build markets across the U.S. and internationally. Burrier said there are specific strategies to reach these goals.

?Because I was elected as Communications and Education Chair, one of the things that I want to do is the farmer to tell their story about our sustainability and conservation across everything that we do,? Burrier said. ?And the other is we want to grow the soy checkoff and inform everybody the amount of research and marketing that goes on as far as the soy checkoff goes and how their dollar is spent wisely across all projects that we do.?
