South American Weather and Crop Update (5-16-23)

by | May 16, 2023 | 5 Ag Stories, News

The weather in South America is still pretty open and dry for farmers to work in the fields. While they would?ve appreciated that weather earlier this year, it?s still making things easier. Allendale commodity broker Greg McBride provided an update on the latest weather patterns in Brazil and Argentina.

McBride said those dry conditions did limit yields a little bit, but they?re still expected to see a massive crop.

McBride said that Brazil is almost done with both their soybean and first crop corn harvests.

Argentina is also working on harvesting, although their crop is nowhere near as good as Brazil?s.

McBride also provided some advice for Iowa producers, especially with the tanking soybean prices.
