Small Things

Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward. -Mark 9:41

I’m a very passionate person. I like to do big things for the Lord.

Over the past few months, I’ve really struggled with the idea of doing small things for God.

However, as I’ve spent time in the scripture, it literally says, “Anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name will not lose their reward.”

This is proof that just giving a cup of water to the glory of God matters.

Little things matter in the Kingdom of God. It might not seem like it does, but it does.

You don’t have to adopt a child from another country, start and orphanage, or donate $20,000 to the church. Those are all really great things. I even hope to do at least one of them someday, but they aren’t more important than giving a drink of water in Jesus name.

No matter what you are doing for Jesus, it matters.

So, open that door, carry their bag, give a $1, smile at that stranger, ask them if they need help. Be Jesus in the big things, and the small things.

Prayer: “God, thank you for showing me that small things matter in the Kingdom of God. Nothing is too small when it is done in your name. Help me to always do the little things. In your name I pray, Amen.”
