Shattered Screen

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. -Hebrews 11:1

This past weekend, I dropped my brand new iPhone 7 in the driveway. It completely shattered, and I was extremely annoyed.

I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks. I tried to be so careful with it. I bought a $50 phone case to protect it, and on top of that, I purchased the tempered glass screen protector.

I trusted that the things I purchased would take care of my precious phone. However, I was unbelievably wrong.

How often do we trust wrong things? It’s difficult to see God’s vision and trust Him fully when we are depending on other things.

When we are living in darkness and sin entangles our lives, it makes it difficult to trust God.

Sometime, it takes being completely broken and shattered to have the kind of faith that we truly need. The kind of faith, where we aren’t relying on what we can see in front of us, but on who is leading us.

Maybe God intends for us to come to places of utter brokenness so that our trust is in Him alone, and nothing more.

Don’t rely on your own strength, or your iPhone’s case for that matter. Rely on the God who is completely trustworthy in our complete brokenness.

Prayer: “God, thank you for being worthy of my trust. Help me to not depend on anyone or anything else, but you alone. In your name I pray, Amen.”
