Senator Chuck Grassley talked about the Commerce Department?s decision to review the situation over Argentina?s dumping of biodiesel in 2017. The Senator joined a bipartisan group of senators in sending a letter to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

Senator Grassley joined Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and eight other Senators in sending the letter about the anti-dumping duty review. The department is fast-tracking the review.

Senator Grassley says the letter asks Secretary Ross to use the same vigor and transparency it uses in administrative reviews.

Back in 2017, the United States found evidence of Argentina dumping biodiesel. Imports were coming into the United States at values well below what the United States prices were. This led to tariffs being levied against the product.

Argentina used to account for more than two-thirds of the biodiesel imported by the United States. Argentina is the world?s top producer of biodiesel. When duties were imposed, Argentina had to scramble to find other markets in which to sell their products.

The Commerce Department?s review is an attempt to find a solution to the dumping concerns and alleviate another trade issue.
