Senator Grassley talks about biodiesel tax credit extender

The biodiesel tax credit is one of many under the category of ?tax extenders? that you hear politicians talking about. Eventually, the plan is to have the tax credit for the biodiesel industry phase-out. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley had talked about that option roughly a year ago. However, it was contingent on getting the extensions passed from 2017. Here we are in 2019, and we still haven?t got them extended.

Senator Grassley said nothing seems to get done in Congress until there is a deadline looming. That is what is happening again with the biodiesel tax credit.

Grassley says there is still negotiation happening between the Senate Finance Committee, which Grassley chairs, and the House Ways and Means Committee.

Grassley says as convenient as it would be to blame this stalling on impeachment politics, it isn?t the reason. He says impeachment talk has ?taken all the oxygen out of D.C.?, and that Iowans won?t accept impeachment as an excuse for not getting other business done.

Grassley has stated that there is work being done to keep the Government operational until December 20th. However, he is tired of kicking the can down the road instead of working together to get a budget bill and tax extenders passed.
