We are coming up on seven weeks since the flooding started in Iowa, it has been even longer for the folks in Nebraska. It has been over 200 days since Hurricane Michael ravaged the Southeast. However, we still haven?t gotten a disaster bill to help anybody. Senator Grassley addressed this in his weekly chat with ag media.

The disaster bill has been a long time coming. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley talks about what he sees as the hold-up. He cites political disagreements and deadlock in the Senate.

This bill will not have enough to cover all which will be needed to help Iowa and Nebraska. This is mainly due to the fact there isn?t a concrete number on what the damage this flooding has cost. Grassley says there will be a need for a second bill. He says if there needs to be more money for Puerto Rico, it can be added in that bill. He doesn?t want to see the current disaster bill held up any longer.

Grassley reminds us of the fact that Congress has never let a disaster go unaided. They supplement the disaster funds if it is needed. People will get the help they need. However, some have waited long enough.
