Audio: Full Interview with Iowa Senator Joni Ernst
Talking first about China, Senator Joni Ernst says the news from the G20 meeting between Presidents Trump and Xi was a step in the right direction.
Ernst says President Trump?s agreement to not impose higher tariffs in January was a move to show the U.S. is willing to negotiate in good faith.
Senator Ernst also felt positive with China’s agreement to label fentanyl as a controlled substance but says, “they have a long way to go.”
On USMCA, Senator Ernst says with the deal now signed, it is up to Congress to ratify it. However, with a new Congress, there could be some challenges.
