As we look to the future of environmental fuel options, biofuels still are very much a part of that conversation. The Biden Administration is still pushing for electric vehicles, but they are still a little way off. Biofuels are an option that we have right now. While we look for clean options, improving octane is a goal to help reduce some of the emissions.

The Next Generation Fuels Act was introduced by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) Senator Ernst talked with IARN about what the bill is all about.

The octanes have not been announced yet. Senator Ernst talks about the process to get these octanes raised with the help of ethanol.

Of course, you can?t talk about these kinds of biofuels measures with Big Oil and their representatives getting upset about it. But she says this could be an opportunity for oil and biofuels to work together.
