The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was the topic of discussion as Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig visited a Jefferson, Iowa grain terminal on Wednesday.

Naig and Deputy Ag Secretary Julie Kenney toured the Landus Cooperative Jefferson facility on Wednesday. There the Secretary got to see corn that was being loaded for trains to Mexico.

Naig commented on the convenience NAFTA affords the United States, Canada and Mexico. He said it ?makes perfect sense logistically?.

Naig said we have the infrastructure to allow our NAFTA partners the ability to get our commodities easily. We do not want them to look elsewhere.

Naig says they have been working through Iowa?s congressional delegation to get their opinions on NAFTA heard.
