There have been many changes over the years to how we sell our products. There have been changes in demand for U.S. beef products, and new markets for products we may have never considered. A member of the Cattlemen?s Beef Board and U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) Executive Board reflects on what he has learned.

Hugh Sandburg is a Colorado cattle producer who serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Cattlemen?s Beef Board. He co-chaired the Beef Checkoff?s Export Growth Committee. Sandburg says with 95 percent of the population living outside the U.S., it drives home the need for strong export markets.

Sandburg says in his time on the USMEF board, he has learned the importance of every market we have. He has learned to appreciate our markets in the Pacific Rim and just how much value is in the Mexican and Canadian Markets.
