The Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public hearing on its Renewable Fuel Standard volume obligations August 1st. The hearing will be held in Washington, D.C. The EPA will take public comment on the 2018 renewable volume obligations, 2019 RVOs for biomass-based diesel.

?We will be here and all of our champions in Washington will be here. I encourage many people from Iowa to join us in Washington to make sure EPA hears the strong voice of the Midwest and understands the value of RVOs to our industry and America as a whole,? Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor is of, a renewable fuels advocacy group.

Skor says she is confident this administration will finalize these proposals on time.

?It?s very important from us ?thank you?. You are doing exactly what you should be doing in regard to the cellulosic numbers. With respect to the cellulosic targets, they are below the levels for 2017 and we would like to revisit that with EPA,? Skor says.

The officials at EPA say they lowered the volume requirements because production was not met the previous year.

The agency released a prepublication version of the proposed rule earlier this month. The proposal calls for approximately 19.24 billion gallons of renewable fuels to be blended into the national fuel supply next year. This includes 238 million gallons of cellulosic biofuel, 2.1 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel, and 4.24 billion gallons of advanced biofuel. For 2019, the new proposal calls for the biomass-based diesel RVO to be maintained at 2.1 billion gallons.
