The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) hosted President Donald Trump yesterday, as he spoke at their 100th anniversary. Farm Bureau is the nation?s largest general membership farm organization and the strongest agricultural lobbying force in Washington, D.C.
President Trump may have wanted to get out of Washington during the shutdown, but he also wanted to speak to an audience that is receptive to his message.
He accomplished both, but the continued trade dispute with China, lack of legal labor and dispute over a border wall are causing hardship for farmers and agribusinesses. President Trump did little to assure the audience that any of their major concerns would be resolved in the year ahead.
