Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts today administered the Presidential oath to Joseph R. Biden, declaring him the 46th President of the United States.

President Biden spoke to restoring “peace” and “unity” among our divided nation, in his inaugural address. He also spoke of his dedication and pledge to combat the deadly coronavirus, which ravages our nation.

United States agriculture faced major disruptions, as coronavirus reached new heights, impacting every state, city, and town. As the industry recovers from the losses, many still fear what is to come. President Biden today pledged to “press forward with speed and urgency.”

“Few people in our nation’s history have been more challenged, or found a time more challenging or difficult than a time we’re in now,” President Biden says. “(A) once in a century virus that silently stalks the country has taken as many lives in one year as America lost in all of World War II. Millions of jobs have been lost, hundreds of thousands of businesses (have) closed.”

Agricultural organizations sent their congratulations to the new Administration, and cited an eagerness to work with President Biden and those chosen for top posts.

American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) officials say, “Today, we turn the page, learn the lessons, and look to the future with the hope and optimism that are core to who we are as Americans.” Furthermore, the organization asks for the needs of America’s farmers, ranchers, and rural communities to be addressed.

“We must extend broadband coverage to ensure rural families, businesses, schools and health care facilities can compete in today’s digital reality. We are also looking for partners in our efforts to achieve sustainability goals while ensuring climate policies remain market-based and voluntary,” states a press statement. “We have been meeting with President Biden’s nominees to discuss priority issues and today we shift into higher gear to achieve these goals.”
