Six new hog confinements may be going up in southwest Webster County in the near future. Two of the facilities are proposed for Elkhorn Township, one in Fulton, two in Roland, and one in Gowrie Township.

The applications for the new hog confinement facilities will be before The Board of Supervisors in upcoming weeks. The supervisors hope that more people will be informed about them. Supervisor Merrill Leffler said, “I think one thing that is lacking a little bit in the process is providing notification to property owners.”

The supervisors are currently taking comments on all of those proposals now.

The DNR has the final say on all proposals, and has 60 days to make a decision after the supervisors submit their paperwork.
