Pork is the number one consumed protein worldwide and U.S. pork is well recognized in the meat case in Japan.

Three National Pork Board executive officers recently went to Japan and China. Colorado producer Brett Kaysen says the U.S. can learn from the Japanese when it comes to marketing.

?We have the opportunity for more branding and telling the story from farm to fork. The Japanese really appreciate knowing the pig producer behind the product. They like to see pictures with the face of the farmer and the story behind the farm,? Kaysen says.

Bill Even is CEO of the National Pork Board. He says in order for pork to profit we need volume and value.

?Japan is the number three most high volume market for U.S. pork but number one in value. What we see in the U.S. and Japan is that consumers eat whole muscle cuts of pork,? Even says.

Even adds those are the pork chops, pork loins and other traditional cuts we eat.
