Farming and crop growing have become so interconnected with our devices. We use computer interfaces in the tractors, on our tablets, and on our phones to monitor our crop?s progress. Pioneer is now offering an app that will help you estimate your corn yield, just by taking a picture of it.

During the Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour, I was able to see first-hand the Pioneer app in action. Estimating your corn yield is not new, but the new app will streamline the process. Pioneer?s Jeremy Groeteke tells about the app.

The more samples you gather, the more accurate your estimation will be. The app allows you to look at up to 20 samples per field.

On the tour, the app came within a five bushel per acre estimation to the crop tour methods. Groeteke says consistency is key. Different people looking at the same samples will see different yields. It is just human nature. The app stays consistent with its estimations, with no bias.

The new Pioneer App is free of charge and is available for both Android and iPhone platforms.
