Last week at the World Pork Expo, the festivities were kicked off by the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) kicking off a new logo and website for the organization. While the support pork producers have come to expect will stay the same, there is just a new way of looking at the future of the industry and that is what the NPPC is trying to embody.

Bryan Humphreys is the CEO of the NPPC, and he talks about what this rebranding means for the organization. It is a challenge to bring the industry forward into the future.

The hog with the speech bubble is indicative of the need to share the story of pork production in the marketplace. It is about being transparent and open with the process so consumers can understand why producers do what they do and how safe a product they are getting.

Humphreys talks about the challenges that face the pork industry today. He talks about how they break down for the NPPC to handle them. Some of these problems are just new variants of issues we have faced before. Some of them are new and need new thinking.

There are many issues that consumers and regulators don?t know much, if anything, about. It is the job of producers to help these people understand the work you are doing for sustainability, the environment, and animal welfare. When you can assuage the concerns of those groups, you can go a long way to showing that pork is a safe and reliable form of protein.
