Northey's Soap Creek Watershed Tour takes him to Wapello, Appanoose Counties on June 11

DES MOINES, Iowa (IDALS) ? Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that he will participate in the Soap Creek Watershed Tour in Wapello and Appanoose Counties on Thursday, June 11.

The tour will start at the Blakesburg Community Center and visit a number of conservation sites before stopping for lunch at the Soap Creek Lodge near Unionville. The tour will stop and view flood prevention structures, wetlands, road structures and addition project sites currently under construction. The tour is sponsored by the Soap Creek Watershed Board.

Appanoose County ? 12:00 p.m., tour will stop for lunch at Soap Creek Lodge, 13253 T61, Unionville

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his third term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are promoting the use of science and new technologies to better care for our air, soil and water, and reaching out to tell the story of Iowa agriculture.
