Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey

Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey says it?s time to start the conversation as to what?s next for him in Iowa but says an official announcement will come in due time.

Northey will host a meet and greet Monday night in Nevada.

He says the premise is to hear what folks are looking for in the future.

?In 2018, I finish with this term as secretary of Agriculture I would have several choices. One is to run again as secretary of Ag, look for something in the private sector, or one would be to look for any other place I could serve as well.?

Northey says he’s had some folks encourage him to run for governor.

?It is a big decision for others but me as well. I would like to be able to hear from folks about what they think and have those conversations. Plenty of time, we just got done with an election but to do those things right it takes some time to put the pieces together, so it is time to start the conversation.?

He says his decision more than likely won?t come until 2017.
