NFU opposes farm bill as written

The 2018 Farm Bill was pushed through the House of Representatives Agriculture Committee yesterday.

The basic platform for farm and food/nutrition spending is on its way through the legislative process. This one is full of controversy. What isn?t?

It will not become law in its present form. Most of the bill will likely survive the House and Senate Conference Committee and garner enough votes in both houses.

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) is being cautious in its support, and the National Farmers Union (NFU), a more left leaning organization, opposes much of that Committee Chairman Michael Conaway (R-TX 11th District) put in the bill.

We will take a look at this legislation from several aspects. Today, the National Farmers Union president will give his view of what has been offered for the next five years.
