Pork producers from across the country will head to Indianapolis Thursday. The 2016 National Pork Industry Forum takes place in Indianapolis, IN. Cindy Cunningham with the National Pork Board says producers will focus on several issues at this year?s meeting.

?There?s a lot of things happening in the pork industry this year. It?s a very exciting time. Our theme is Inspiration starts here. It really showcases what is happening with pork, pork?s usage and how pork producers are playing such a critical role in that,? Cunningham says.

Cunningham says the focus this year is following their strategic plan.

?It really has three different arms we are working on. First is to build that consumer confidence. We know consumers have questions about modern production practices. We want to make sure we are prepared to answer those questions. That we are demonstrating our producers are doing the right thing,? Cunningham says.

She says pork producers are also focused on efficiency.

?That?s from the farm gate all the way to what we are doing with consumers so that continuous improvement, research, education and all of that. Finally making sure we have a sharp focus creating that vision for the future of the pork industry,? Cunningham says.

The National Pork Industry Forum is the annual business meeting of the National Pork Board and National Pork Producers Council. 450 pork producers from across the country were selected from state associations to attend the forum. It takes place from Thursday through Saturday in Indianapolis, IN.
