The 116th Congress has been sworn in. The power has shifted a bit in Congress. The House of Representatives is under control of the Democrats, while the Republicans control the Senate and the White House. It’s time for Ag groups to make their wish lists.

The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) has outlined some of their priorities for 2019. NCGA Vice President Kevin Ross tell us the concerns deal with ethanol and trade.

Ross says NCGA is hopeful the shutdown of the government will not impact the release of a rule to have E15 available all year round.

Ross says getting a bilateral trade deal done with Japan will be key not just for corn producers, but for agriculture as a whole.

However, it is going to be a matter of “first things first.” We have a government which is shut down, federal workers who want to go back to work, and producers who need programs implemented so they can farm in 2019.
