A national seed company helps growers reduce variability in 2018 with a new line of product.

Brent Stauffacher is seeds, silage and forage marketing leader for Mycogen Seeds. Stauffacher said Mycogen Seeds will offer growers many benefits in the upcoming season.

?We have a great new portfolio of hybrids coming out. Mycogen has revamped its grain corn portfolio in the last two years. We have a brand-new Revontek seed treatment that is going to provide increased protection in disease control ? something growers in Iowa saw a lot of this year. Then there is Enlist corn, a new weed control option for growers,? Stauffacher said.

Mycogen Seeds offered Enlist corn to a select group of growers this past growing season. Stauffacher said growers will find the product easy to use, economical and effective in controlling weeds.

Mycogen Seeds will also offer PowerCore to Iowa growers in 2018. PowerCore is a corn seed trait designed to protect corn from damaging above-ground insects.

Stauffacher encourages Iowa growers to meet with a Mycogen Seeds representative to address variability in their fields.

?Iowa growers saw a lot of variability this last year,? Stauffacher said. ?They had a cold, wet, extended spring. Then depending on where you were in the state, you either saw some dry conditions or were trying to figure out what impact variability had on your fields. We really recommend (growers) get with our dealers, sales representatives or agronomists and talk about it field-to-field. Because of the variability in agriculture, we have to look at each situation uniquely.?
