Much love for Perdue at Senate Ag hearing

Nothing but love from both sides of the isle for Secretary of Agriculture Nominee Sonny Perdue. The nominee has four economic goals to accomplish if confirmed.

The sentiment in the room regardless of politics, seemed most, if not all, Senate Ag Committee members liked the former Georgia governor except for a member of the audience.

A heckler shouting, ?Stop subsidizing violence? had to be escorted out early in the hearing.

Perdue says he has four goals if confirmed as the next head of USDA.

?Each of these goals is focused on an important constituency, the stakeholders of American agriculture. First, I will maximize the opportunity and ability for America?s men and women in America?s agriculture and agribusiness sector to create jobs, like producing and selling food and fiber that feed and clothe the world.?

He says we want to remove every obstacle and give them every opportunity to prosper.

?Second, for the American tax payers, I will prioritize customer service every day. They expect and have every right to demand we conduct the people?s business efficiently, effectively and with the utmost integrity,? Perdue says.

His third goal is to ensure a safe food supply and fourth, is to preserve valuable land resources.

The Senate Ag Committee did not vote to confirm Perdue Thursday. Committee members have until five o?clock this afternoon to submit more questions or concerns. Chairman Pat Roberts says they will schedule a committee vote soon.
