Cary Sifferath vice president for the U.S. Grains Council says that the marketing year 2022/2023 (began Sept. 1 2022-Aug 31, 2023) got off to a slow start for grains.

The Chinese people were greatly affected by the country?s strict Covid lockdowns which slowed the economy. China is the number two U.S. export customer of all forms of grain in terms of tonnage and number one in terms of value. Sifferath says the Chinese economy is now getting back on track.

Sifferath says that feed grain demand in China has returned for the Chinese pork and poultry industries.

He says that the demand for ethanol continues to increase in the United States? number one export market for ethanol.
