A vital resource often gets overlooked on the farm and that?s a mother.

Just as rural communities are the backbone of America, moms play an important and integral role on the farm, with their families, in their communities and across the entire agriculture industry.

?They wear so many different hats. They are nurturing and caring for everyone else. They put others before themselves. They don?t really get the recognition they deserve. More women are starting to be the actual farmers or their role on the farm is evolving.

That?s Tracy Mueller is with Monsanto. They began the Farm Mom of the Year program eight years ago.

?We partner with the American Agri-Women and they read through every single nomination. They help us narrow it down to five regional winners who each receive $3,000 for their own personal use and $2,000 to donate to their favorite local charity. Then, we post their profiles online and the public gets to vote for the national winner who receives another $2,000 to give to the same or a different local charity of her choice,? Mueller says.

Nominate your favorite farm mom today at AmericasFarmers.com. Applications are due March 31st.
